While they certainly don’t look the most appealing in your tank, they are truly the best janitors of any fish tank. But they are only about an inch in size anyway, so they can’t really get in your way.
Also, they have this cool translucent body that is almost alien-like and very cool to look at. In our opinion, we think that they outrank all others in terms of cleaning power. The only real pitfall you have to deal with is the fact that there’s a chance larger fish will eat them. But then again, larger fish will also eat snails and other algae eaters.

#2.Aquatic Arts Purple Snails For Hair Algae
Next up, we have the Aquatic Arts Purple Snail, which is certainly the best hair algae eater if you are interested in having a very cool-looking purple snail that is a lot of fun to have around. Sure, it gets the job done and eats hair algae, but it is not nearly as effective at doing so as the Amano Shrimp mentioned above. Instead, the selling point is more of its personality.
We like it because they are a load of fun to look at and watch as they are actually quite lively and more than most other snail species which are mostly dormant. They are not the prettiest snails to choose from but people who get these are not using them for aesthetic purposes. These Malaysian snails mean business and absorb as much hair algae as possible.
They are definitely on par with the shrimp mentioned above in terms of their appetite with the one kicker that most large fish don’t touch them. And finally, we should mention that you can even put these Thai snails in a larger pool of water such as your swimming pool or a small pond and they will work their magic as well.
