The Xinyou Air Pump is a great sponge filter that provides both mechanical and biological filtration with outstanding performance. This particular sponge filter is only for small tanks up to 10 gallons. It is useful as a breeding filter or secondary filter.

Perhaps our favorite feature is that it does a good job of trapping large waste particles and mechanically cleans water without trapping fish fry. Finally, you can just install an airline into this sponge filter which will provide both aeration and filtration for your tank.

#3.Jardin Fish Tank 6-Layer Sponge Filter

We really like the Jardin Sponge Filter because it features a weighted plastic base that keeps the unit from floating during use. Also, we like the cylinder design which gets rid of dead space. This filter is quite easy to clean. All you need to do is simply rinse and squeeze the sponge under cool running water.

The Jardin Sponge Filter should last about 6 months to prevent bacteria from going inside. Also, the 6-layer design works much better than the standard 4-layer design. Overall, if you are looking for a cheap and reliable sponge filter for your tank, this is the way to go.

#4.Powkoo Air Pump Sponge Filter

The main advantage of the Powkoo Sponge Filter is that it is super quiet and really easy to install. It can be hidden anywhere on the back walls of your tank. Also, the two suction cups are very sturdy. The max tank size is about 45 gallons and it is made of food-grade materials, which is absolutely safe.

#5.Huijukon Air Pump Double Sponge Filter

The Huijukon Double Sponge Filter is a great filter because it performs better than expected and is the best sponge filter for raising Discus and Angel Fish. The max tank size is around 55 gallons and is great for including baby fry or shrimp. They will not get sucked up and also have a food source to eat off the sponge.

We like that the air-water outlet is adjustable, which means you can change the direction and the height of the water flow. The air diffuser is also adjustable. Finally, the arms holding the sponges are adjustable, which will position the sponges better away from the tank walls.
