Typhoon Youth kids Helmet Offroad Gear Combo Gloves Goggles DOT Motocross Review

The Typhoon Youth Kids Helmet Combo – my brief snapshot:

If you ask me about the Typhoon Gears in this combo package, then I would that the helmet and goggles are great. They are just what I was looking for for my little for my four-year-old. And I can tell you, my boy just loves the gear.

He is just starting with Motorcross, and I am teaching the safety aspect, though he is not carrying much about it, he just loves the look and the feel.

The gloves are a little bit large for his age to be honest. I would say that they seem a little bit mismatched with the helmet, but hey my boy is probably still too young as he grows up these will last him for a while.

Features:

  • Weighs 2.75 pounds
  • Sizes available from Youth XS, to Youth XL
  • DOT certified
  • Adjustable visor
  • Exhaust vents installed on the helmet

Pros:

  • Is pretty lightweight
  • DOT certification means it has been tested for safety
  • Exhaust vents allow for air inflow
  • Comes with goggles and gloves
  • Looks like a real motocross helmet

Cons:

  • Is a little more expensive as compared to its competitors, but the price is still ok

Typhoon Youth Kids Helmet and Goggles

My boy did find the helmet and goggles to be comfortable and easy to use. I would have liked the helmet to be a bit more comfortable for full coverage, but my son said that it is great and he feels good in it. So it may just be me wanting more than it should be.

Something that you need to be aware of is that your kid will be sweating through the helmet. This is if you stay static for a long period talking, which I do with my son. However, the goggles did a great job of keeping the sweat out of his eyes.

The goggles are somewhat small but highly effective. Again, I want to repeat myself here, the gloves were a little too large. But still, they look great and keep my child away from having scratches on his hand when he fell from the bike.

How to Fit the Typhoon Youth Kids Helmet

Many reviews describe that the Typhoon combo gear offer is the best protection and value for money proposition for your kid’s gear. The helmet is adjustable to account for minor head measurements. However, you need to be careful with the head dimensions. I would advise you to measure your child’s head and then select the appropriate helmet size.

Now, if you buy this new helmet, it’ll come with a safety harness that lets you and your kid ride together. It has a full-face fiberglass coverage with an EPS-like impact shell and flexible faceguard. You add to that a shock-absorbing foam, dual-density polyethylene mid-seat cushions with dual hard shell back pads and removable hard shell on the sides. And finally, it has a padded chin strap.

What’s the quality of the Typhoon Kids Helmet

I already touch-based upon this in the previous section. But I wanted to reinforce it here. Typhoon isn’t fooling around with its youth gear. The gear has a build quality that rivals other high-quality offroad gear on the market. The gears have good details that allow for easy setup and adjustment and are designed with versatility in mind. The helmet padding feels great and is padded with ThermaRite technology (if I remember the term correctly).

The earpads and visors both have pieces of soft padding that can be removed if needed. The official kids’ motocross helmet offers great protection. The shell is built of high-density EPS, which is thinner than the standard EPS used in most adult helmets. The liner offers the same anti-bacterial properties, though the foam on the inside is more pliable than most helmets with a more rigid lining.

What the Typhoon Youth Helmet Price

We paid $82 at Amazon for this helmet and gear. I know that for the same price, I could have purchased something similar at other local retailers. But I preferred to purchase the helmet combo online as the price was better. Note that for the same price or even cheaper, you can get a decent helmet and goggles set. But my kid fell in love with the design and the helmet had all of the safety features I needed. So it was a no-brainer. We just went ahead and got it.

Conclusion

As a father of two (one of which is an aspiring motocross racer), I am very cautious when purchasing products for my kids. With that said, I am impressed with this combo offer. It is well-designed and has many great features. It also comes at a very reasonable price for all the products included. If you have a child that is very interested in motocross or just wants a helmet and goggles that are protective and have style, then this is the helmet you should consider purchasing.
