Best Trumpet Mute

#1.Jo Ral 2C Trumpet Copper Bubble Mute

If you want the best trumpet mute, we think the Jo Ral 2C is one of your better options. While this mute comes with a pretty hefty price tag, it is very well-made and performs evenly across all registers. The only downsides are that it is a little heavy and you may need to put some clear coating on it to prevent it from tarnishing.

#1.Jo Ral 2C Trumpet Copper Bubble Mute

When it comes to the best trumpet mute, we have to give it to the Jo Ral 2C, which is basically the gold standard in this industry. While we do admit it is clearly more pricy, it is totally worth it. This trumpet mute is very well made and plays with better intonation throughout the range and it plays with far less resistance than most other brands on the market.

Sure, this mute is quite expensive and also quite heavy, but it sure is worth it if you want that true rich biting sound. If you can’t handle a few extra ounces, you should just go lift some weights. Finally, it is made of heavy bare copper, so it is prone to a bit of tarnishing over the years. We suggest you put a clear coat spray over it to make the finish last longer.

#2.Honbay Aluminum Practice Mute

Next, we have the Honbay Aluminum Practice Mute, which is a great value option for those who want the best trumpet mute but just can’t justify shelling out the big bucks. This is an aluminum mute that fits all trumpet types. We also like it because it has a pretty nice sound and does a good job of not distorting the pitch.

Just keep in mind that this is not a standard trumpet mute but more of a practice mute. We say in general it will just about cut your sound in half give or take a few. So just go into it knowing that it won’t mute your sound completely. But it is nice and small enough to be carried around with you at all times and is pretty easy to slide on and off.

#3.Bremner (SshhMute) Trumpet Mute

Another one of our favorites is the Bremner Trumpet Mute and we shouldn’t talk about a list of the best trumpet mute without at least including it. It is made of lightweight hard wearing ABS plastic. Overall, we think that it really stands out in that it remains in tune and is really quite accurate throughout its entire dynamic range. However, it is clearly a bit less silent than other mutes.

The trade-off is that it is just much easier to play with. Due to the small amount of back pressure that it creates, you get better airflow, which helps you open and develop the throat muscles. Unfortunately, there are some setbacks to this mute. We experienced mild vibrations at certain frequencies and its durability is a bit questionable compared to other mutes in this price range.

#4.Harmon B Aluminum Wow Wow Mute

Another great option when it comes to the best trumpet mute is the Harmon B Aluminum Wow Wow Mute. This is an all-aluminum mute that works great with a jazz or concert band. As the name implies, it produces that traditional wow-wow sound that is desired in genres like jazz. Overall, we say that the build quality is pretty amazing and we like the traditional mute bite to the sound.

The Harmon has more of a crisp sound and is sharper in the lower range. Also, the Harmon is clear coated, which also means that it is way more resistant to tarnishing and rusting, although it will happen eventually. All in all, get the Harmon Wow Wow if you want a brighter sound, less resistance, and good intonation all at a pretty affordable and reasonable price.

#5.LotFancy Trumpet Straight Mute

Lastly, we have the LotFancy Trumpet Straight Mute, which is made of high-purity spun aluminum and manufactured with excellent craftsmanship. We think this is the one to get if you are looking for value. In terms of durability, we like that there are these premium neoprene-enhanced composite cork pads, which are designed to be used for long periods of time while taking plenty of abuse.

Also, we like that the LotFancy is meant to perform evenly on all registers, with a distinct, muted sound throughout the entire dynamic range of the trumpet. So basically, it is the perfect practice mute. If you have tried many trumpet mutes out there and just can’t seem to find a trumpet mute that works, we strongly urge you to give the LotFancy a go. You won’t be disappointed.
