Best Blue Fountain Pen Ink – The Top 5 Blue Ink

#1. Pilot Iroshizuku Blue Fountain Pen Ink

Best Blue Fountain InkWhen it comes to the best blue fountain pen ink, we have to give it to the Pilot Iroshizuku Blue Fountain Pen Ink. This ink has an intense blue ocean color that others just can’t rival.

We really like the Pilot Iroshizuku series because it represents top-quality Japanese inks. Although it is made by Pilot, a large global company, we can’t help but think that it has Japanese influences.

And we think it goes without saying that it is top quality with rich and subtle blue colors. It flows extremely easily and does not bleed through thin paper and other mediums.

We truly cannot say the same about many of the other brands we tried, which just didn’t really have it down in terms of quality, flow, or just overall look and feel.

#2. Montblanc Ink Bottle Permanent Blue

Fountain inkNext up, we have the Montblanc Ink Bottle Permanent Blue, which is the best blue fountain pen ink if you are going to have absolute quality. This ink is perfect for most styles of drawing and writing.

We like the blue color and think that it is a nice solid color that is just the right hue. This one is also permanent, but Montblanc also sells non-permanent inks. The permanent will not fade over time.

Also, we like how it is waterproof, which makes it incredibly durable and will withstand the test of time. It is also quick drying so be sure to work both quickly and diligently.

And finally, just keep in mind that this is Montblanc, so you can’t really go wrong. It is a globally recognized brand with amazing quality. You can even send it to someone as a gift.

#3. Parker Quink Ink Bottle Blue

Another great option for those who want the best blue fountain pen ink is the Parker Quink Blue Ink. We really like it because it is a budget-friendly way to have nice quality blue ink.

We really like that this bottle has added lubricity which leads to a smoother flow. Also, it is both quick drying and richly pigmented, which means that this blue will really pop out on paper.

Although it is fairly affordable and much more economical than the previous two mentioned brands, we don’t think that it is of much worse quality. And this is exactly what we like about it. You can have more or less similar top quality without paying much for it. Just a heads up, it is a bit of a darker blue.

#4. Pelikan 4001 Bottled Ink Royal Blue – Washable Blue Ink

The Pelikan Bottled Ink Royal Blue is a great bold blue ink that does a great job of both protecting your fountain pen and the nib. It definitely makes our top 5 list. We like it because it produces a clean and clear-cut line with a very even flow. It also fills your fountain pen quite easily as all you need to do is to tilt the bottle on its side.

Just keep in mind that it is not waterproof so don’t go around that it is incredibly durable and will last forever. Not to get us wrong, it is a pretty clean and rich ink, just don’t expect it to be waterproof.

Also, this works for most fountain pens that use a plunger mechanism and converter. This ink got our attention because it can be washed out of most fabrics. And you do not need a special tool or chemical. Just put it in the laundry, run it and it will wash away.

You can also erase the ink using one of those ink eradicators like the Pelikan Super Pirat. Note that any washable inks can’t be used to write over areas where an eradicator has been used. But this is not a problem as the Super Pirat comes with a marker just for that purpose.

Overall, we are fairly confident this ink will likely fit your ideal model of fountain pen.

#5. J. Herbin Deep Blue Ink

Lastly, we have the J. Herbin Deep Blue Ink, which is the best blue fountain pen ink if you want a deep dye deep intense dark blue that is infused with gold specks. First and foremost, we really like the packaging and think that it looks nice and professional. In fact, it looks more like a perfume box than some sort of fountain pen ink.

Nevertheless, this can actually be a really good gift idea as it looks really nice and comes in a nice gift box. In terms of actual performance, the quality is definitely there and the ink is quite durable.

It also goes on quite smoothly and dries fast. The only thing is that it has a bit of that gold sheen to it from the infused gold specks, which can be annoying if you don’t like this.

For instance, Pilot Iroshizuku Inks come in a beautiful and vibrant color. The Montblanc Ink Bottle Permanent Blue is an intense color. And the Parker Quink Ink Bottle Blue gives that professional look finish. And we also like the Pelikan Bottled Ink Royal Blue which provides a luxurious feel but is also washable (perfect for children). And finally, the J. Herbin Deep Blue Ink creates a nice darker tone.
