Best Pre Emergent For Bermuda

#1.Southern Ag 2, 4 – D Amine Weed Killer

If you are interested in the best pre-emergent for Bermuda, we highly recommend you check out the Southern Ag Weed Killer. This is a powerful 2,4, D Amine pre-emergent that works wonders for Bermuda grass. We like it because it is powerful, heavy-duty, and just simply does the best job in controlling weeds for Bermuda grass. It also does not kill or yellow your Bermuda grass, unlike a lot of other brands.

This is also one of our favorite pre-emergent herbicides to remove Bermuda grass weeds because it does a good job of killing pre-existing weeds as well as preventing new weeds from forming. Also, Southern Ag has been around for a while and definitely already has an established brand and reputation. We trust their product as they are consistent and always reliable.

#2.Green Light 7462 Wipe-Out Crabgrass Killer

Next up, we have the Green Light 7462, which is the best pre-emergent for Bermuda because it just completely wipes out crabgrass and 250 different kinds of weeds. This is a fresh start to your lawn. While it is not nearly as protective as Southern Ag in terms of protecting your Bermuda lawn, it does a much better job of wiping out all types of weeds and crabgrass.

Yeah, sure, there are some reports of the Green Light also killing Bermuda grass or at least making it yellow, but if you mix it right, you shouldn’t see this happen at all. In case you’re wondering, the active ingredients are 2,4-d, dimethylamine salt, quinclorac, and dicamba. And it sure is powerful, as it kills weeds including the roots and all.

#3.Surflan AS Specialty Herbicide

Another great option when it comes to the best pre-emergent for Bermuda is the Surflan AS Specialty Herbicide. It is a water-based formula that is low in odor and very easy to use. The best part about the Surflan AS is that it controls weeds in your Bermuda lawn before they even emerge as a good pre-emergent should. In terms of actually killing weeds, the previous two are better.

We like that it is pretty gentle and you don’t have to be that careful when spreading this stuff, unlike some other brands. Also, in order for it to work properly, you have to follow a rigorous schedule and follow the instructions carefully when applying it for the first time.

#4.Syngenta Tenacity Turf Herbicide

The Syngenta Tenacity Turf Herbicide is a pretty good product that can be used on Bermuda turfgrass to help control weeds around it. It is both a pre-emergent and post-emergent herbicide. And this is also the main reason we like it – because it essentially acts as both. So it does a pretty good job of controlling weeds as well as killing existing ones, making your Bermuda stand out.

It takes about a week for you to see the after-effects and the weeds will stop growing. And it will last a few more weeks before you see the weeds actually dying, leaving you a beautiful Bermuda lawn. All you need to do is to mix some of the herbicide with water and apply it as a spot treatment. It is pretty easy to apply and maintain as well.

#5.Lesco Professional Bermuda Pre-Emergent

Finally, we have the Lesco Professional Bermuda Pre Emergent, which is a nice lesser known brand that does a really good job in controlling crabgrass and other grassy weeds. And just a heads up, we consider the Lesco more of a pre-emergent than a post-emergent, so it will help prevent and control crabgrass from growing but won’t do too much for existing weeds.

While sure it does help a bit in killing unwanted weeds, it will not be nearly as powerful as some of the products we mentioned earlier. But it sure does a great job of controlling weeds from growing. Overall, if you have tried a lot of products already and just can’t find the right fit as a stand-alone pre-emergent that won’t harm your Bermuda, you should give the Lesco a try.
