Best Hoof Nippers

#1.Diamond Farrier 14D 14-Inch Hoof Nipper

For those who are interested in the best hoof nippers, the Diamond Farrier 14D is one of the better options out there in terms of value. We think that it offers a nice combination of performance, durability, and price. While it is not a pro-level hoof nipper, for most people it is good enough and costs way less. It is fairly durable, although not the top quality.

Best Hoof Nippers

#1.Diamond Farrier 14D 14-Inch Hoof Nipper

When it comes to the best hoof nippers, the Diamond Farrier 14D is certainly a great option if you are looking for value. Sure some of the nitpicky people are going to scream that these are not proper hoof nippers. But for the average person, these are good enough for most situations. These have a decent amount of leverage and if you have any real strength at all, you should be able to operate this without breaking a sweat.

Ok, they are definitely not as durable as some of the “real” pro hoof nippers, but for all intents and purposes, it doesn’t really need to be. They cut well and are pretty sharp. The only thing that we are a little concerned about is that it tends to dull faster than the more professional hoof nippers out there. You can replace it with a new one rather than spend tons of money on a pro one.

#2.GE Easy 14″ Hoof Nipper

Next up, we have the GE Easy 14-inch Hoof Nipper, which is the best hoof nipper if you are looking for a real hoof nipper and are willing to pay top dollar for this privilege. The Diamond Farrier 14D mentioned above is still entry-level amateur stuff compared to this hoof nipper. We like it because it just everything go much easier and faster.

It stays sharp longer than other brands and is already incredibly sharp, to begin with. And feel free to beat this thing up and use as much force as you need because it won’t break. Basically what we are saying is that this thing is built like a tank and is pretty much the best you can buy in this industry. It will last forever as long as you can pay up.

#3.Mustad Farrier Hoof Nipper Black 14in

Another great option when it comes to the best hoof nippers is the Mustad Farrier Hoof Nipper. We consider these the poor man’s GE (see above) and is clearly better than the Diamond Farrier brand. It is probably one of the better entry-level professional nippers out there and works well as described. It is pretty sturdy overall and is easy to operate without you having to exert too much force.

It is not as sharp and seamless to cut things as the GE mentioned above, but hey it doesn’t need to be. Just use a bit more force and you should be alright. These hoof nippers already give you decent leverage so you don’t need to worry about getting in the right positions. Also, it stays sharp for a long time without the need to reshape.

#4.Tough-1 15-inch Hoof Nipper

The Tough-1 15-inch hoof nipper is kind of like the Diamond Farrier nipper that we mentioned above. It is a decent hoof nipper that is functional and completely fine with most people. Of course, you are going to have to work a little harder at it but for the most part, you can still get stuff done. The quality is quite similar to the Diamond Farrier, so not the best but also not the worst.

Also, you should know that it is made of chrome vanadium steel and can certainly take a good beating. All the moving parts just aren’t as smooth as the GE mentioned above, but that’s ok with us. All in all, this tool definitely seems to give you the right amount of leverage and it certainly works very well for non-professionals. The action is smooth and sharp enough to quickly work.

#5.Southwestern Equine Farrier Hoof Nippers

Lastly, we have the Southwestern Equine Farrier Hoof Nippers, which are great for those looking for something dirt cheap and don’t want to stoop down too low in quality. This brand comes in 12-inch, 15, and 15.5-inch sized hoof nippers, so you can choose whatever you like. It also comes with nice rubber handles, which give you added comfort when working.

You would be surprised at just how solid this hoof nipper is for this price. But please keep your expectations low as it is certainly not a pro hoof nipper by any stretch of the imagination. It seems smooth and seamless enough and you can easily get some good leverage with it. Just keep in mind that it is not that durable so don’t beat this thing up with force.
