We really like the BlueDEF DEF002 and think that it is the best diesel exhaust fluid on the market. It is made of a mixture of 32.5% high-purity synthetic urea and 67.5% deionized water. With this brand, we think that you will get the best increase in gas mileage, up to a 5% increase. It is very stable, odorless, colorless, and meets ISO standards for purity and composition.
Based on our surveys, this brand also produces some of the best emissions. It does a great job of converting nitrogen oxide into harmless nitrogen gas and water vapor for cleaner emissions. It works with all SCR-equipped diesel engines and you need about a gallon of Prestone for every 50-75 gallons of fuel. It is also a very safe and easy-to-handle nontoxic solution so you can keep it in your vehicle.
In terms of composition, it is 67.5% water and 32.5% automotive-grade urea. Overall, it is very stable and has been thoroughly tested to meet all API and ISO 22241 requirements. If you end up crunching the numbers, you will find that it is pretty much the cheapest quality DEF fluid your money can buy. BlueDEF is definitely more premium, but you end up paying a bit more.

Another great choice when it comes to the best diesel exhaust fluid is the Ad Blue Diesel Emissions Fluid. This fluid is made for vehicles with SCR code U42 and Blue Tec engines starting in 2010. Perhaps the standout feature of this brand is the no spill anti-over fill feature built into the nozzles of each bottle. It makes it incredibly easy to fill up and apply without spills.
In terms of quality, we find it slightly worse than the previous two brands we mentioned, but the difference is negligible. The trade-off is that you get a bottle that is much easier to use. Now it is also a bit more expensive than most other brands, so you need to take that into consideration as well.

The ACDelco Diesel Exhaust Emissions Reduction Fluid is certainly a name brand when it comes to DEF fluids. It meets GM OEM vehicle specifications and can be used in non-GM diesel. This is as long as the vehicle has a Selective Catalytic Reduction system to meet regulated NOx emissions. We also like that contains no chemical additives that could cause a SCR system failure.
We also like the fact that it includes a few vented nozzles which helps make pouring incredibly easy. It also helps to prevent glugging, which is a nice bonus.
