#1.Saver Systems Water-Based Deck Stain
For those who are interested in the best water-based deck stain, we highly recommend that you try out the Saver Systems Water-Based Deck Stain. This deck stain does a great job of damaging UV rays. While there are plenty of water-based deck stains on the market and plenty of big-name brands, we prefer this smaller brand because they make a better quality product and seem to have better quality control.
This semi-transparent wood stain also does a good job of protecting against long-term fading and greying. It also dries to an all-natural-looking finish in 4 colorways. And a final talking point is that it has low VOCs and a nice and easy cleanup process. Also, it is not messy at all to lay on and anyone with some time can do it.

#2.Restore-A-Deck Water-Based Wood Stain
Next up, we have the Restore-A-Deck Water-Based Wood Stain, which is the best water-based deck stain for those of you who want to prepare and stain the deck in a day. The standout feature is that it cures quite fast and allows you to work diligently to complete a full deck project on the same day. It comes in a semi-transparent finish and has many colors to pick from.
In our opinion, it is very easy to apply for beginners and cleans up easier than the Saver Systems brand mentioned above. It also penetrates deep into your wood to protect it. But in terms of durability and protection from mold, mildew, and UV, it is good but the Saver Systems is better. But for convenience, Restore-A-Deck wins hands down.

#3.Ready Seal Deck Stain And Sealer
The ReadySeal Deck Stain And Sealer is another great product that is the best water-based deck stain because it requires no primer and won’t leave runs, laps, or streaks. This also means that it requires no back brushing which is nice to know. Also, it is nice to know that it can blend itself and can be applied in any temperature range. It also requires no wet line application.
Another great thing about this Ready Seal Deck Stain and Sealer is that it requires no diluting or thinning prior to spray application. So if you plan on spraying it, this is so convenient. All in all, the Ready Seal gives the Restore-A-Deck a good run for its money in terms of overall convenience. Also, we find that it is pretty good at waterproofing and mildew resistance.

#4. Deckwise Wood Oil for Ipe Decks
The Deckwise Wood Oil For Ipe Decks is a great penetrating wood stain that offers a very nice balance between ease of use and overall durability and protection. We think it has a bit of everything and doesn’t lean towards being only good at one thing. It is great for people who aren’t too fused about a certain thing and just want the jack of all trades.
So just some highlights are that it does a good job of protecting against UV damage, it repels water, and it has an easy soap and water clean up. Also, it has low VOCs and a quick recoat time as well as giving you the ability to work really quick and prep and stain your deck in one day.

#5. Defy Extreme Wood Stain
Lastly, there is the Defy Wood Stain, which makes our top 5 list because it simply offers superior protection against mildew and all sorts of outdoor conditions. It probably has the deepest penetrating formula of them all and one coat is all you need to get going. In terms of water repellency, the Defy is also quite nice but mildew and mold protection is the highlight.
Although it is not a very popular brand and is quite rare to find, we are pretty glad that we found it. It is turning out to be quite the hidden gem and does a good job of protecting against UV rays. Sure all of the brands above offer the same type of protection, but just word of mouth from long-term users tells us that the Defy just does the protection better for longer periods of time.
