#1.Rapala X-Rap Magnum Fishing Lures
When it comes to the best yellowfin tuna lure, we think that the Rapala X-Rap Magnum is a very obvious choice. This yellowfin tuna lure pretty much run perfect right out of the box and can run up to 13 knots. Overall, we would say that the standout feature is definitely the superior quality. The craftsmanship and construction quality is clearly a step above the competition and it comes in at a very reasonable price.
We think that the performance to price ratio on the Rapala is quite high and this is what makes it so popular. Also, although you can tune it, we think it works great without any tuning. We think this is definitely a color that everyone should have in their tackle box. It gives you great trolling lure runs and runs at a depth of anywhere from 15 to 25 feet. This lure is amazing for yellowfin tuna.
#2.Braid Marauder Medium Lures
Next, we have the Braid Marauder Medium Lures, which is the best yellowfin tuna lure if you want a lure that has really good quality and hand painted with a deluxe extra hard finish. We really like the fact that it is super durable and has an extra hard body that the yellowfin tunas cannot bite through and break. It can also be trolled over 12 knots.
This yellowfin tuna lure is assembled with extra sharp hooks and has ball bearing swivels. Basically it is set up for big game trolling and works perfect for tuna of all kinds. Overall, this heavy duty lure makes nice and straight tracks and has big hooks and swivels. When you hold it, you can tell that no corners were cut in the manufacturing process.
#3.Santos Tournament Grade Trolling Lure
Another great option when it comes to the best yellowfin tuna lure is the Santos Tournament Grade Trolling Lure. This lure is perfect for those willing to pay up a bit and get a pro grade lure for yellowfin tunas. This lure is heavily weighted and long with a low frontal profile. It can be pulled at crazy high speeds up to 20 knots, although in heavy seas, it may require heavy weights.
Also, just keep in mind that this is tournament sized and is 16 inches long, so it is quite big. It will definitely take a good beating underwater and isn’t afraid of any bites from tuna. They are also chip and crack resistant and UV stable. Perhaps the standout feature is simply that it has a great design that yellowfins absolutely love. With this lure, you will get them biting in no time.
#4.Eat My Tackle Turbo Jet Head 13″ Lure
The Eat My Tackle Turbo Jet Head Lure is an great lure that makes out top 5 list. Although it is not really a popular item, we are glad that we discovered it and pride ourselves on findign a hidden gem. This lure is about 13 inches long with a double skirt which is made of premium grade vinyl. This allows for improved durability and finese underwater. It also weighs about 1 pound, which lets it stay at speed.
We really like how it is fully rigged with a 6 foot long 200 lb mono leader and a #10 stainless hook, so it comes ready out of the box. It also comes with a nice flashy chrome plated head that tunas all love. Perhaps its standout feature is the fact that it is rigged with a jet head with 5 jets. This actually leads to a bubble trail that the tunas just love to follow.
#5.Fish WOW! 6″ Fishing Tuna Lure
Lastly, we have the Fish WOW! fishing lure, which is a nice extremely cheap option for those who want to dabble in cathcing yellowfin tuna. Just know that it is really not designed for pros. Although it is a bit smaller than your average lure for catching yellowfin tuna, it will get the job done most of the time. It is rigged with a double tuna hook and a 100 lb test mono.
Additionally, we like the fact that it produces a cool little bubble trail for the tuna to see and follow. While the bubble trail isn’t a lush as that of the Eat My Tackle Lure, it is decent for this price point. All in all, this is a great little lure for experimenting with yellowfins. The only thing that is a bit questionable is the quality and durability underwater. But you can just easily buy more to replace it.
