Best Swimbait Reel

#1.Okuma Citrix 350 Swimbait Reel

When it comes to the best swimbait reel, we highly recommend that you try out the Okuma Citrix 350 Swimbait Reel. This is one of the industry classics and definitely a popular model. What sets this reel apart from other brands is that it is just noticeably more smooth. Sure there are reels that cost way more, but the Okuma wins the best bang for the buck.

Furthermore, we think that the drag is amazingly smooth and not jerky at all. It is also built with pretty heavy-duty solid brass gears that are quite durable. And to make sure, we asked plenty of users in the angler community and they all vouch for the Okuma. It is a solid brand and has a long-standing reputable history.

#2.Lews Fishing TPG1HL Swimbait Reel

Next up, we have the Lews Fishing TPG1HL Swimbait Reel, which is the best swimbait reel if you are going for superior ergonomics and comfort. Although it is a fairly small reel, it fits nicely in large hands and won’t tire your hands out in the long run. Overall, we are very pleased with the castability of this reel.

Let’s just say we tested the Lews out extensively and there were very few times we got a backlash. Perhaps its standout feature is that its adjustability, which we can’t say for other brands. Additionally, we are absolutely gobsmacked by its line management and casting abilities, which basically solidified our decision.

#3.Shimano Curado DC Swimbait Reel

Another really nice option when it comes to the best swimbait reel is the Shimano Curado DC Swimbait Reel. There is certainly a lot of hype around this and we can confirm the hype is real. The first thing you’ll notice (and this is clearly the standout feature) is that there is a computer chip built in that helps monitor spool speed 1000 times every second.

There is also an amazing digitally controlled braking system that allows you to make simple adjustments to your reel for any skill level. And finally, it is just very comfortable to fish, and very rarely will you feel fatigued with this reel. This is definitely a swimbait reel you need to try for the technology alone.

#4.KastKing Spartacus Swimbait Fishing Reel

Ok, we felt obligated to through in an entry-level swimbait reel, so here it is: “The KastKing Spartacus”. This reel is certainly a nice game changer in terms of affordability and quality. This swimbait reel is quite standard and features a KastKing style magnetic braking system. For a cheap reel, this braking system is more than good enough.

So far, the braking system seems pretty flawless and we have no zero backlashes while testing it out. Also, it tends to cast pretty nicely with some pretty nice distances. Yeah of course you will have a cork composite, but it is comfortable enough in our opinion for what it is worth. All in all, this is a very solid budget swimbait reel.

#5.Shimano Tranx TRX300A Swimbait Reel

Lastly, there’s the Shimano Tranx TRX300A, which incorporates this new CoreProtect water-resistant technology that gives you long-lasting performance and durability. It has a nice hagane construction that provides a metal reel body which gives it a nice layer of protection, stiffness as well as bulletproof performance.

The hagane construction is also pretty amazing as it prevents serious flex during a vicious fight and helps maintain its superior balance. You can’t really go wrong with a Shimano, and this particular model has some pretty ridiculous cranking power with a very smooth retrieve.
