Best Powerlifting Bar

#1.Buddy Capps Texas Power Bar

Finding the best powerlifting bar is not exactly that easy. Many of them are advertised as Olympic bars and a good majority of these bars can’t really hold serious weight. Luckily, there’s the Buddy Capps Texas. This highly coveted powerlifting bar is different from the rest because it uses black zinc-plated bars and not cheaper black oxide, which only darkens the steel but gives no corrosion resistance.

It’s the most popular all-purpose powerlifting bar in the USA used for both training and competition. It is built for a lifetime of hard use as it has oil Impregnated bearings that need no lubrication. And of course, no details were spared in making this bar, and no materials were skimped. You can load it with all the weights you want and it will have very little bend.

#2.ProSource Olympic Barbell Multipurpose

Next, we have the ProSource Powerlifting Barbell, which is the best powerlifting bar for those who want something that is generally pretty good but also won’t break the bank. This barbell has a pretty smooth spin with tight bearings and a good balance. It performs with some serious weight up to 160k PSI. If deadlift or squat over 8 plates, you should look elsewhere.

In general, this barbell is made of a durable steel bar with a phosphate finish and chrome sleeves added for durability and rust prevention. So basically, it doesn’t feel cheap at all. And finally, just know that there’s a standard medium diamond knurl that gives you a very secure grip. Overall, we are very impressed with the performance.

#3. Olympic Barbell Bar 700 lbs

Olympic Barbell is certainly a popular brand name in the world of powerlifting and this bar is the best powerlifting bar under this brand in our opinion. This barbell has a PSI rating of 190k which basically translates to being able to handle a weight of 700 pounds. If you can deadlift more than that, you deserve to have one sent to you as a replacement.

In terms of build and specs, it is high strength and comes with a 3-year warranty, stress-proof high-grade steel, and a hard chrome finish for unmatched oxidation resistance and repeated use.

#4.REP Gladiator Olympic Bar

The REP Gladiator Olympic Bar is definitely not for the faint of heart. While it is technically an Olympic Barbell, you can definitely use it for powerlifting and in fact, we recommend it more for powerlifters. It has a 1500-pound max load with a 230K tensile strength, so bending this bar will be quite difficult unless you are stacking on some world-record weights.

Overall, we think that separates this bar from the rest of the brand is just that it feels very comfortable and easy to grip in your hands. Additionally, it really has an optimal whip and medium-depth knurl. This knurl is perfect for us as it doesn’t eat into your hands during those last few reps and the knurl markings are ideal for a powerlifter.

#5.XMark VOODOO Commercial Barbell

Finally, we have the XMark Voodoo which is another finely made XMark product. It is crafted using heat-treated alloy steel and a snap ring lock system, which is great for powerlifters. The bar itself is made of black manganese phosphate shaft and it holds a tensile strength of 185k with a 1500-pound weight capacity. Also, there’s moderate flex in the bar.

We actually like the flex of the bar when it comes to deadlifting, as it makes it a bit easier off of the ground. You can get rid of some of the slack on the bar with a quick jerk. Finally, we really like how Voodoo’s collars have micro-grooves which basically make sure your plates stay in place. This adds to both safety and comfort.
