MORE INFOHave you ever looked at your friend’s Brembos and want to get them yourself? If you are like most people, then you cannot justify paying a ridiculous premium for colored brake calipers like Brembos. Painted brake calipers obviously make your car look nicer and cooler than stock white or gray calipers. They also make them easier to clean after they are painted. Plus, most people won’t be able to tell the difference between self painted painted calipers and branded ones.
The most interesting argument to be made to paint your brake calipers yourself is the cost savings. It will only cost you a few bucks to buy the paint and do it yourself versus spending hundreds on Brembos or another brand of colored brake calipers. You could also buy a caliper cover but that is also costly and may even look stupid.
However, you can’t just use any household paint or spray paint toto change the color of your brake calipers. You have to use the best brake caliper paint, which is specialized to withstand high temperature. The paint doesn’t necessarily have to be manufactured specifically for caliper painting. However, it must be able to withstand high heat and pressure. Also it should be rather resistant to chipping and peeling.
It is important to get a caliper brake paint that will also resist the build up of brake dust. It should perform and withhold itself in the harshest of braking conditions. You may also want to consider a paint that has lots of solids and pigments. Usually 2 part epoxy paints are good for this.
There are also entire kits you can get that include everything you need to completely repaint a caliper. These include but are not limited to caliper cleaners, masking tape, applicator stick, and an applicator brush. The best caliper paint comes in many forms which can include a spray can or in a paint jug. Spray paint is obviously easier to apply but you may not be able to get the same thickness as a paint jug which you brush on. Finally, you should consider the color you want. Most people like red calipers, but it really comes down to a personal choice.

This kit includes everything you need to paint 4 calipers including masking tape, stir sticks, caliper paint, and caliper cleaners. Rust Oleum is a solid brand with a great reputation for all sorts of paint related applications.
Our favorite thing about this kit is the color. The red paint by Rust Oleum really stands out and is far superior to any of its competitions. The red color really pops out and has the extra bit of pop that the competitors lack. Also, the paint is not prone to chipping at all and holds its color for quite a while. If it means anything to you, it is heat resistant to 900 Degrees Fahrenheit. This could be the reason why the paint is so durable.
The caliper paint kit is quite intuitive to understand and apply. Our only complaint is that there is not enough caliper cleaner in the kit and the include brush could be a little bigger. Other than that, we don’t really have anything bad to say about this caliper paint. All in all, it works very well and leaves a beautiful finish that is dust resistant.
