#1.TotalBoat JD Select Bottom Paint
When it comes to the best antifouling paint for fiberglass, we highly recommend you try out the TotalBoat JD Select Bottom Paint. This paint gives you multiple seasons of anti-fouling protection. In our opinion, this antifouling paint is probably the most durable out of all of the other brands that we tried. It gives you the best protection and basically lasts the longest, according to our poll.
And it comes in many different vibrant colors for you to choose from. We like that this brand clearly has the best durability and the paint does a much better job of not chipping compared to others. And finally, we just want to mention a bit that it is very easy to clean up with just a bit of soap and water. It also has a clean low V.O.C. formula which is always nice to have.
#2.Rust-Oleum Antifouling Paint For Fiberglass
Next up, we have the Rust-Oleum Marine Coatings Boat Bottom Paint, which is the best antifouling paint for fiberglass if you have mild to moderate fouling conditions. In terms of coating times, it is pretty good. You are able to recoat in 4 hours and launch in about 16 hours. It is also suitable for both freshwater and salter conditions.
Additionally, we really like it because it works wonderfully over aged antifouling paint and gives you a nice smooth finish with a flat sheen that holds up well in all sorts of weather. Furthermore, there’s this nice protective coating that does a pretty good job of resisting the buildup of algae, barnacles, bacteria, and other sorts of marine life.
#3.Interlux Fiberglass Antifouling Paint
Another great product when it comes to the best antifouling paint for fiberglass is the Interlex Fiberglass Bottomkote Aqua. This paint has a really nice finish that helps reduce friction and drag. Perhaps our favorite feature is that it is a pretty thin film. This means that there will be less of a paint build-up and much easier to clean up later with just soap and water.
The durability is decent but definitely nothing like the brands we mentioned above. It does do a decent job of protecting against fouling and marine life that can form on it. More importantly, it has a nice low-odor formula that makes applying it much easier than many of the other brands where you may have to wear a mask.
#4.Aquagard Water-based Anti-Fouling Paint
The Aquagard Water-based Anti-Fouling Paint is a nice budget-friendly option for those who want the benefits of a proper anti-fouling paint but don’t really want to pay for it. This is a fast-drying paint with no toxic fumes. It goes on very thin and just takes a bit of scrubbing with water and soap to get off. It is also quite easy to apply and the coverage is pretty good.
In terms of durability and actually ability to guard against fouling, it is decent but definitely not the best like the brand mentioned above. We like it more for the value. So in other words, this paint will get you 75% of the way there at a significant discount per square foot than many of the other brands we mentioned.
#5. Poli Glow Deluxe Anti-Fouling Paint
Finally, we have the Poli Glow Anti-Fouling Paint, which is another nice paint with great value and delivers pretty consistent reliable results. This Poli Glow paint is a brand that is always mentioned whenever people start talking about preventing fouling. It works great for fiberglass and wooden boats.
Perhaps its greatest feature and the one that you least expect is that it does a great job of repelling barnacles and other algae growth and does this way better than other brands for some reason. Other than that, this is a pretty standard antifouling paint with good coverage and durability. It also comes in many different colors.
