We would advise you to collect rainwater. This water is really good for cleaning your panels. And it is free too. If you prefer to use de-ionized water, note that each panel may need at least 10 liters of water (we usually do with less with a little trick which we will discuss below. Please think twice about the cost (free rainwater you collect, or expensive de-ionized water).

Now that you have the water, start by gently rinsing the panels with a hose to remove loose dirt and debris. Avoid using high-pressure washers, as they can damage the panels or their seals.

Here is the trick: start from the most elevated panel. The water will run down the other panels, and as such you’ll reduce the need for water by at least half.

Do not use abrasive materials that can scratch the panels. Note that a home broom will do. A plastic one. You can find these anywhere in a superstore. Note that the broom plastic must not be too rigid but flexible enough to rub any dirt without hurting the solar panel.
