#1.Pro-Cure Crab and Shrimp Attractant
If you are interested in getting the best crab bait, we think that the Pro-Cure Crab and Shrimp Attractant is a great product. This stuff is made from 100% real bait and does a great job of bringing in the crabs. We really like it because it has a strong and lasting scent that will linger around for a very long time. This is perhaps the feature that makes it stand out from the competition.
Additionally, we find that it has a very good range and is better than most, which means that it will draw in more crabs in a wider area. This in turn will increase your chances of catching crab substantially. Finally, the only other thing that we should note is that you need to shake it up well before applying it or it will not work as well as advertised.
#2.Smelly Jelly Crab Attractant
Next, we have the Smelly Jelly Crab Attractant which is the best crab bait if you are looking for a bait that is made with non-toxic bio safe scents that are easy to apply. We like how this formula does a good job of going below the surface and a single application can last up to several hours, which is much longer than most other brands.
When compared to the Pro-Cure brand, we found that these actually attracted more crabs, but the trade-off is that it doesn’t last nearly as long and the range isn’t as good. There are a few pitfalls, however. For one, this stuff is very messy and if you aren’t careful you can get it all over yourself. Second, it is quite smelly and stinky, so just be prepared.
#3.Pautzke Bait Scents
Another wise choice when it comes to the best crab bait is the Pautzke Bait Scents. It was created using many years of data and feeding simulations to figure out what worked and what didn’t. It then features a proprietary mix of scents that are run through multiple simulations to get the optimal results for you. This result is a bait scent that has a very wide area and attracts many crabs.
Are there better crab baits out there? Sure, but like with all crab baits, there is a trade-off as you cannot get the best of all worlds. This particular scent shines in having an incredibly large range. While it may not be as attractive to crabs and durable underwater, lasting longer than the previously mentioned scents, it certainly makes up for it with a crazy extended range.
#4.Gulp! Alive! Crab Attractant
The Gulp! Alive! Crab Attractant is the prime example of a commercial crab attractant that is made to appeal to the widest possible variety of crabs in the world. While it certainly is an appealing value proposition, we find it a bit lacking in performance. First of all, it is not nearly as effective as the other mentioned brands at attracting crabs.
Also, it is not nearly as durable and long-lasting underwater and doesn’t have nearly the same range. So what does it have? Well, this formula is made very cheap and maximizes the most amount of crab varieties. This basically means that if you are having trouble catching a particular type of crab with other bait, you should give the Gulp! a try and see what it brings you.
#5. Bass Assassin Bang
Lastly, we have the Bass Assassin Bang, which is a great little crab attractant that is rendered from real fish. While it is meant to be a fish attractant, we find it is actually quite useful on crabs as well. Overall this is an excellent all-around attractant for all kinds of sea creatures and will also do a good job in attracting fish nearby. It is also not too smelly, unlike many of its competitors.
We really like it because it is incredibly simple to use and is a nice backup bait in case your main crab bait just isn’t working out on any particular day. Also, we think that for the price point, it’s worth it. The only thing you have to kind of get over is the fact that there will be more fish attracted in your area as well.
