There are a few pitfalls, however. For one, this stuff is very messy and if you aren’t careful you can get it all over yourself. Second, it is quite smelly and stinky, so just be prepared.

While it certainly is an appealing value proposition, we find it a bit lacking in performance. First of all, it is not nearly as effective as the other mentioned brands at attracting crabs.
Also, it is not nearly as durable and long-lasting underwater and doesn’t have nearly the same range. So what does it have? Well, this formula is made very cheap and maximizes the most amount of crab varieties. This basically means that if you are having trouble catching a particular type of crab with other bait, you should give the Gulp! a try and see what it brings you.

#5. Bass Assassin Bang
Lastly, we have the Bass Assassin Bang, which is a great little crab attractant that is rendered from real fish. While it is meant to be a fish attractant, we find it is actually quite useful on crabs as well. Overall this is an excellent all-around attractant for all kinds of sea creatures and will also do a good job in attracting fish nearby. It is also not too smelly, unlike many of its competitors.
We really like it because it is incredibly simple to use and is a nice backup bait in case your main crab bait just isn’t working out on any particular day. Also, we think that for the price point, it’s worth it. The only thing you have to kind of get over is the fact that there will be more fish attracted in your area as well.
